Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) has now been adopted as part of the borough’s Local Development Framework.
The government’s Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 requires all local planning authorities to prepare a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). This sets out how this council will engage the local community in the planning process, including in the preparation and review of planning policies and in the determination of planning applications.
The document sets out how the council intends to:
• Provide information via leaflets and the council’s website.
• Consult through letters, questionnaires and exhibitions.
• Enable participation in activities through workshops.
• Involve residents and businesses using newspapers, on-site notices and sending letters to neighbours.
And clarifies the process for getting involved by explaining:
• At what stage consultation will take place.
• What you will be consulted on and how.
• Who will be consulted.
