News Item Details

Date
9.56am, 4 January 2008

A model showing the planned regeneration of Hatfield Town Centre will be available to view in the foyer of Asda supermarket in Hatfield from Tuesday 8 January.

The large model measuring, 2.2 metres by 1.2 metres, puts into context the £100 million redevelopment project that extends over 8 acres of Hatfield Town Centre.

Graham Walker, the project manager for the scheme, will be available to answer questions about the project such as how the scheme came about, how consultation has helped shaped the town centre east area and the key stages of the project. He will be available at the Asda store between 10-12pm on the following Wednesdays: 16, 23 and 30 January.

The proposed scheme include shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a new multi-storey car park (575 car spaces), a new Primary Care Trust facility, a new Town Centre Bus Stop facility, improvements to the public amenity and public realm as well as 275 residential units. Once completed it will provide businesses and residents with a much needed attractive, accessible, clean and vibrant centre to shop, live, work and relax in.

Demolition and construction is programmed to start later this year. The scheme is expected to be complete by late 2011/2012.
