Healthy Living Centre delayed

Work on the Healthy Living Centre as part of the Hatfield regeneration project will not start in January 2007 as anticipated.

At a meeting held last week, Welwyn Hatfield Council learned from the Chairman and the Chief Executive of the new East and North Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust that they were reviewing their options with regard to their requirements for accommodation. This could affect the planned design and construction of the Healthy Living Centre in Hatfield.

The Primary Care Trust expressed regret at having to make this announcement at this stage of the project and said that the PCT was committed to continuing partnership work with the Council. At the meeting they also said that they would report back at the end of January with a clearer idea of their intentions for relocating the Queensway clinic from the centre of Hatfield.
