Welwyn Hatfield is pleased to announce that work began at the beginning of February on improving the Moors Walk Neighbourhood Shopping Centre, in Welwyn Garden City.
The plan is to build a new three storey development on land adjacent to the existing shopping parade to house restaurants and shops on the ground floor with flats above. The current building will then be subject to extensive remedial works with a redesigned, refurbished shopper’s car park and new landscaping.
Councillor Richard Smith, Executive Member for Resources said: “This is an excellent scheme which will greatly enhance the area and be of huge benefit to both retailers and local shoppers alike once completed.
“We apologise to them, as well as tenants and local residents, for the disruption that will occur but we are sure that they will enjoy the new facilities when completed. Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum during the build period.”
It is anticipated that the project will take 16-18 months.
