Mill Green Museum has an exciting and ongoing programme of events generally held on a Sunday.

23 August - Water Day event at Mill Green                                            

11.00am to 4.30pm (Welcome Address at 11.30am)

Includes children's activities, family quizzes and games, dragonfly and butterfly making, river dipping, fun scientific demonstrations. Gallery Talks on 'Water Conservation' and 'Green Corridors'. Regular Mill Tours will be taking place and refreshments will be on offer at the seasonal Miller's Tearoom.

As 'Water Day' replaces our annual 'Teddy Bear Fun Day' for this year only, Teddies in swimming costumes will be made to feel especially welcome!

Entry: £4 per adult, children FREE (16 years and under)


9 September - Heritage Open Day and Bulb Planting at Welwyn Roman Bath House         

2pm to 5pm

Step back in time and visit the remains of a 3rd century Romano-English bathing suite. This year visitors can also help to plant bulbs in our wood ready for Spring! Bulb planting is free but first come, first served. All equipment will be provided but visitors are welcome to bring their own gardening gloves and kneelers if they would like at their own risk.

10 September - Heritage Open and Murphy Radio Day at Mill Green

2pm to 5pm

Take a look behind the scenes at Mill Green Museum.Tour the museum's fascinating object stores with our knowledgeable staff and volunteers.

Also, see the fantastic display of vintage Murphy TVs and Radios manufactured by one of Welwyn Garden City's biggest employers during the twentieth century, and speak to the enthusiasts! Smallford Station and Alban Way Heritage Society will  also be displaying their railway model and talking about their work.

Cream Teas will be available 2.30pm - 4.30pm

31 October - Halloween event at Mill Green

4.30pm to 7pm

Dress up your little spooks and bring them along to enjoy a spooky family fun packed 'softly scary' Halloween event.

Includes spooky stories, spooky trail, make your own potions, bob for apples, bite a biscuit and guess what's in the Gruesome Sacks! The event will end with a musical family costume parade (parents included). A great safe destination for the little ones who want to take part in this annual event.

Cauldrons will be overflowing with Halloween treats for you to buy. We will be serving refreshments but adults can also pay a visit to the Miller's Ghost Inn.

Entry: Adults £1, Children £5 (2 years +) includes a torch


26 November - Victorian Christmas Fair

2pm to 5pm

Santa will be in his grotto along with his trusty elf. There will also be Victorian street sellers,Victorian photos, Christmas Pop-Up Shop and free children's activities including seasonal story telling in the enchanted wood grotto.

Hot chestnuts and Victorian street food will be on sale with mulled wine, juice, hot chocolate and warm Christmassy Mince Pies!

Entry: Adults £5; Children FREE (16 years and under)

Grotto Entry £5 per child with free novelty gift from Santa (Siblings will see Santa together as a group)
