Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council’s Campus West car park in Welwyn Garden City has received the prestigious Park Mark Award.
Chief Inspector Simon Hawkins will present the award to Councillor Mandy Perkins, Executive Member for Planning and Environmental Health, and Allen Monk, Senior Transportation Engineer for Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
The Park Mark Award is a national scheme aimed at reducing crime and also the fear of crime that some people feel when using car parks.
Campus West, a council-run car park which has capacity for 355 vehicles, has been assessed in conjunction with the Police and the British Parking Association.
The award recognises car parks that are secure, well-maintained and a safe place to leave cars. Upgrades to the Campus West car park in the past few years have included improvement of the CCTV system and enhanced lighting.
Further improvement work to the car park will take place later in the year. This will include resurfacing, repainting white lines and cutting back hedges, to improve visibility across the car park.
