Residents say ‘no’ to Controlled Parking Zone in South Hatfield

News Item Details

Date
5.00pm, 15 Febuary 2007

Welwyn Hatfield Council has listened to residents in south Hatfield and is proposing not to proceed with a Controlled Parking Zone in the area at the present time.

On Thursday 22 February the council’s Cabinet Planning and Transportation Panel will hear the results of the consultation exercise that took place last year.

A total of 5,300 properties were asked about the idea of a Controlled Parking Zone, but the council only received a 22% response to the questionnaire. 58% of responses were opposed to the scheme. In a second consultation this increased to 69%.

A large proportion of those opposed to the scheme said it was due to their reluctance to pay any charges at all for parking permits.
