The Welwyn Hatfield Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA): Phase 2 Review - sites outside urban areas is a technical assessment of potential housing sites in Welwyn Hatfield's Green Belt and safeguarded land.
This assessment considers the suitability, availability and achievability of land outside the urban areas for housing, taking into account sustainability and physical constraints. It should be read in conjunction with the SHLAA Phase 1 Review and Phase 1 Update, which assess potential housing sites in urban areas.
The SHLAA Phase 2 identifies sites outside urban areas with potential for housing development over the period to 2031. However, it does not make judgments on which sites should be developed. Instead it provides evidence to inform future policy decisions.
Information in the SHLAA will be updated regularly and used as evidence to inform production of the Local Plan, as well as being used in the council's Annual Monitoring Report. Further sites may be brought to the council's attention as the Local Plan progresses. If other suitable sites not identified in the SHLAA come forward at a later date, they could still be considered for future development.
