Parking Services started consulting residents and businesses within the Birchwood Area of Hatfield in October 2016.

Consultation documents were hand delivered to over 2,000 properties. It provided residents and businesses the opportunity to comment on parking proposals, which includes junction protection in the form of double yellow lines and an opportunity to introduce Resident Permit Schemes or Single Yellow Lines in their roads.

Due to the size of Icon for pdf Birchwood area, it was split into three areas.

Parking Services received 555 completed survey forms which included additional comments.
These forms were analysed and letters were delivered in March 2017, enclosed were parking proposals which will be progressed to the statutory stage.

One issue which was mentioned by all three areas was vehicles parking on the pavement and verges. Therefore, the Council will be proposing a Verge and Footway Traffic Regulation Order for the whole of Birchwood, to be implemented in stages, this order could be enforced 24/7. If it is implemented vehicles parking on the verge or footway, could be issued with a penalty charge notice if witnessed by one of the Civil Enforcement Officers
