Hatfield shop watch
Shop watch
Hatfield Shop Safe radio scheme is a partnership between local retailers, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, Herts Police, Resolve and other organisations.
The scheme tackles shoplifting and anti-social behaviour to reduce crime in the main shopping areas.
It provides instant communication between shops, CCTV control rooms and the Police about shoplifters or anyone acting in an anti-social manner.
The Radio Link:
- Radios are located in over 32 shops reporting into a CCTV control room.
- The partnership members are linked together with radios and all partners can communicate over the radios.
- Create an environment where you no longer feel in isolation (especially if lone working) and can rely on the support from the rest of the partnership during a 'real time' crime problem.
- You can request or offer help in an emergency situation.
CCTV:
CCTV can play a major part in crime prevention and detection.
- Hatfield Town Centre has an increasing amount of CCTV cameras.
- Combined with 'on the ground' radio information it can be used to track offenders and assist in their apprehension.
