Mill Green Museum

The cluster of historic buildings here and the surrounding grounds are a beautiful oasis in our busy world. Explore our three higgledy piggledy exhibition rooms packed with their colourful displays of local art and exhibitions about our fascinating history. The Welwyn Hatfield Museum Service is based here and holds the social history collection for the district. Look out for details on the many art and crafts workshops and fun activities for children and adults we run throughout the year.

By car

We are located just off the A414 between Hatfield and Hertford, near Welwyn Garden City in the hamlet of Mill Green. If you're coming from the A1(M), leave at junction three or four, and follow the brown directional signs from the A1000 or the A414.

We have a car park with disabled spaces. Additional car parking is available on the generally quiet and un-restricted lane outside.

By train

We are 1 mile from Hatfield station and it is easy to complete your journey by walking, taking a taxi or riding the bus.

There is a taxi rank and a bus stop just outside the station.

By bus

Use the Traveline South East website to plan your bus journey.  Ask the driver for a ticket to Bush Hall Hotel, which is at a junction known as Chequers, located at the end of Bush Hall Lane.  Then walk 5 minutes down Bush Hall Lane.  Brown signs point to the museum and mill.

By bicycle or on foot

Many of the smaller roads and paths nearby are pleasant for walkers and cyclists.  Why not combine your visit with a walk or ride?  We are pleased to offer dog water and have secure bike racks, as well as a delightful garden for picnics.
