I was attracted to the role as a Bereavement Officer as I was already working within the Funeral profession but wanted to have more interaction with families and help them through the bereavement process.

I have now been with the council for almost 7 months, and I am loving my role.

I work closely with a relatively small team of six at Oak Hill. We are all multi skilled, from dealing with the day-to-day admin duties to looking after the deceased and assuring the cremation process runs smoothly. No two days are the same.

We help to support the recently bereaved and local Funeral directors and celebrants by carrying out chapel duties ensuring that every aspect of the service is met.

It is a sometimes demanding and emotional job but the whole team support each other, and we get a lot of support from within the council who provide constant training and wellbeing.
