Tenancy Agreement Terms and Conditions

The Conditions of Tenancy set out the rights and responsibilities you have as a tenant and the responsibilities the council has as your landlord.

In January 2025 we wrote to ask your views in our proposals to vary the conditions of the tenancy agreement.

There were 1085 responses to the survey with over 81% supporting the changes.

The revised conditions of tenancy will come into effect on 10 July 2025.

If you agree with the revised conditions of the tenancy, you do not need to do anything.

You do not need to sign a new tenancy agreement or send anything back to us. The copy you have been sent is for your records.

The changes will not end your current tenancy with us or affect how the council reviews your rent.

If you do not wish to accept the revised conditions of tenancy, the only option as set out in the Housing Act 1985 is to terminate your tenancy with us.

In these circumstances we would encourage you to seek independent legal advice.
