Howlands South Parking Consultation

This consultation began on 8 May 2025 following requests from residents. Howlands South was added to our 2024–26 Parking Services Work Programme to assess parking concerns in the area.

You can find the list of roads being consulted on the following page.

Feedback period

We strongly encourage you comment before the closing date so that we can consider your view in relation to our parking restrictions ideas. The above ideas can be fed back on until Friday 19 December 2025, please use the form here to tell us on the link below:

Howlands (South) Parking Consultation - initial ideas feedback form

To make sure everyone’s feedback is recorded accurately and treated fairly, we ask that all responses are submitted in writing using our feedback form.

Why do we use a feedback form?

  • It helps us keep a clear record of what everyone says.
  • It ensures all views are considered equally.
  • It supports the legal process for parking consultations, which requires written responses.

We do not accept verbal feedback or lengthy phone discussions as part of the consultation process. This approach avoids misinterpretation and ensures that all views are documented accurately.

Residents who wish to share their ideas or comments should use the official feedback form provided or submit their views in writing.

Suggested parking restrictions

No decisions have been agreed yet. The suggestions below are based on survey responses where residents expressed concern about parking issues. We are still seeking feedback to help determine the way forward.

Double yellow lines

Will be considered for introduction at all junctions where not already in existence or where they may be required due to safety or access issues.

Verge and Footway Prohibition Order (VFPO)

We also suggest prohibiting parking on public verges and footways throughout the consulted area. VFPO also covers vehicle crossovers which form part of the public highway and where it is not owned by a property, this would be the land between the edge of the highway carriageway to the edge of private land. Such restriction applies 24/7.

Advisory Disabled Bays

To apply for a disabled parking bay outside your home, please contact Hertfordshire County Council.

Next steps

Once all feedback has been reviewed, we will consider any amendments to the suggested restrictions. If appropriate, we may move forward with a formal proposal of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to formally introduce parking restrictions.

A further letter will be sent in early to mid 2026 outlining the next steps and any proposals arising from this consultation.

Further updates will also be available on this webpage.
