Panshanger

The parking consultation began in May 2025 following feedback from residents. Panshanger was added to our 2024-26 Parking Services Work Programme to assess parking concerns in the area.

Survey period

A survey letter was sent in May 2025 and the survey closed on 4 July 2025. The survey data has been assessed.

Please note that creation of parking bays on highway land, road safety, speed limits, drainage and road surface conditions are the responsibility of Hertfordshire County Council and not Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

Vehicle hardstands and crossovers

The parking consultation applies to the public highway and the budget cannot be used to provide crossovers or driveways.

Advisory Disabled Bays

To apply for a disabled parking marking outside your home, please contact Hertfordshire County Council.

Feedback period

An ideas letter was sent in November 2025, and the feedback period closed on 19 December 2025. Feedback is being/has been assessed.

Suggested parking restrictions

At this stage, no decisions have been made on parking restrictions, the decisions will be based on the feedback gathered from residents.

Double yellow lines

Will be considered for introduction at all junctions where not already in existence or where they may be required due to safety or access issues.

Single yellow line

Will be considered for introduction on the side of Moneyhole Park to operate on Saturdays 8am- 1pm in Sylvan Way as most residents raised parking issues due to Panshanger Football Club and Moneyhole Playing fields users.

Verge and Footway Prohibition Order (VFPO)

Apart from Great Break, (section from Bushey Green junction upwards), we also suggest prohibiting parking on public verges and footways throughout the consulted Panshanger area, where the carriageway is more than 4.5m wide. VFPO also covers vehicle crossovers which form part of the public highway and where it is not owned by a property. Such restriction applies 24/7.

Next steps

We are currently reviewing the feedback data, which may include further internal meetings with ward councillors and drafting relevant documents and maps. Further details will be published on this page during Summer/Autumn 2026. We would send a letter to all residents setting out any formal proposals of parking restrictions to signify a the formal objection stage.
