Clinical waste collections
We provide free clinical waste collections for infectious waste for households within Welwyn Hatfield.
Orange sacks for clinical waste
We collect orange sacks of infectious waste such as:
- dressings used to treat wounds
- used stoma bags.
We collect these every week.
You must use the orange sacks provided. We are unable to collect waste which is not in the orange sacks provided.
Sharps boxes for clinical waste
We collect sharps boxes used for:
- syringe needles and cartridges
- other contaminated disposable instruments.
We collect these every month.
Request a clinical waste collection
To request a clinical waste collection:
- Ask your nurse or GP to email our waste and recycling contractor at victoria.blomfield@fccenvironment.co.uk and emme.williams@fccenvironment.co.uk confirming you need a collection.
- Once we receive this we will contact you to confirm the collection.
Report a missed clinical waste collection
If your clinical waste collection is missed contact us to report it.
Non-infectious hygiene waste
Non-infectious hygiene waste can be tied up in a bag and put in your black household waste bin.
This includes:
- incontinence pads
- nappies (adult and child)
- sanitary products
- empty stoma bags
If you are unsure whether your waste is non-infectious check with your doctor first.
