Housing stock condition survey

As your landlord, we are committed to complying with our obligations to provide quality and safe homes.

We are carrying out surveys on our council housing stock in 2024 which collect information about the age and condition of your home.

It helps us plan future updates and maintenance and ensure your home is a safe for you to live in.

Make an appointment for the survey

You can call us on 01707 357548 to make an appointment for one of our surveyors to carry out the survey.

Repairs

Please note the survey is not for reporting general repairs.

If you need to report a repair to us, or would like an update on a repair contact us on 0800 111 4484.

Your surveyor

The survey will be carried out by one of our surveyors, either Paul or Kevin.

They will be carrying a Welwyn and Hatfield Borough Council identification badge.

If you have any queries or any concerns about the identity of the surveyor, please call us on 01707 357548.

What happens during the inspection

During the survey we will be looking at both the inside and outside of your home.

There is no need to move any furniture or belongings before the survey takes place.

We will need access to every room and space in your home and will look at doors, windows, kitchens, roofs and fences.

We will also require access to some cupboards so we can look at your gas meter, fuse board and boiler.

We will also need access to your loft if you have one.

Depending on the size of your property, the survey should take about an hour-and-a-half.

If you live in a flat the surveyor will also inspect the common areas.

Health and Safety

Whilst at your home we will look out for any health and safety issues which might need immediate attention.

This could include:

  • defective smoke detectors
  • evidence of damp and mould
  • electrical hazards
  • faulty window restrictors
  • trip hazards

If we find an issue we will prioritise fixing it.
