We operate a subsidised mini-bus service for the use of our local community.

Our community bus service aims to help people get out and about. Whether it's to go shopping, get involved in social activities or enjoy one of the many day trips organised by us and other local organisations.

The buses are equipped for people who find it difficult using public transport. All our buses have a tail-lift for wheelchairs and walking frames and our drivers are always happy to help people get on and off the bus.

Services on offer

The shopper hopper

Our door-to-door bus service to local supermarkets for older or disabled residents and those who have difficulty getting around.

We run a regular shopper hopper service for local residents to different supermarkets. When you use this service we will collect and return you direct to your own home. When you have finished shopping our drivers will help you along with your bags onto the bus.

This service costs just £5 per person for a return journey.

To book a place on the shopper hopper, please telephone 01707 357793 / 01707 357696 or email bus@welhat.gov.uk.

Lunch Clubs

Similar to the Shopper Hopper, we provide transport to lunch clubs at the day centres where meals are provided at a reasonable cost.

To book a meal, contact the day centre.  Once your meal is confirmed please telephone 01707 357793 / 01707 357696 or email bus@welhat.gov.uk to book transport.

Private hire

Community groups and charities may be able to hire our buses.  Telephone 01707 357793 / 01707 357696 or email bus@welhat.gov.uk for information.

Our buses and drivers

Each vehicle is taxed, has a current MOT and is fully insured.  Daily vehicle checks are carried out prior to leaving the compound.

In the unlikely event that the bus you have booked needs to be cancelled, we will contact you to let you know and explain why the cancellation has occurred.

All of our drivers carry official identification at all times, will have been assessed by Herts County Council and will have a Road Safety Certificate of Confidence. They will prioritise the safety of their passengers at all time, which includes safely securing wheelchairs and walking aids before a journey.

Passenger behaviour

To help us deliver a safe and reliable service, we ask that all passengers be ready to travel and the collection times and locations agreed. It is essential that you wear a seatbelt, remain seated and do not engage in conversation with the driver whilst he/she is driving.

There is a strict no smoking policy on all of our vehicles.
