Our response to tackling condensation, damp and mould

Following the recent national media coverage of damp and mould in homes, we want to reassure you that we take reports of damp and mould seriously.

Like the majority of social landlords, we do have properties that experience some damp and mould and we want to reassure you this is a priority for Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and we have been looking at additional ways to support residents including:

  • reviewing known cases of damp and mould
  • refocused training for housing and maintenance staff
  • £150m capital investment programme to improve the standard and energy efficiency of our homes
  • providing advice around energy bills as part of our cost-of-living support

We have some advice on how to prevent and manage the early signs of damp and mould, but we are committed to ensuring that we resolve condensation, damp and mould where they occur.
