Welwyn Hatfield Warmer Homes Scheme

We are working in partnership with Yorkshire Energy Solutions (YES) and Warm Works to run the Welwyn Hatfield Warmer Homes scheme.

It supports homeowners and residents to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and keep the cost of fuel bills down.

Who is eligible

You could be eligible if you are a home owner, or a tenant renting a home from a private landlord, who is:

  • on a low income
  • receiving certain benefits
  • living in a low EPC rated home (D-G).

How it can improve your home

You may be able to get free or discounted home energy improvements such as:

  • boiler replacements 
  • first time central heating systems
  • loft insulation
  • cavity wall insulation
  • external wall insulation 

Funding is secured via the government's Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Scheme.

Warmworks Green Homes Grant

The scheme aims to reduce household fuel bills, make homes warmer and more comfortable and lower carbon emissions.

If you're a homeowner or residential landlord you can apply for the grant which can go towards the cost of installing energy-efficient improvements to your home.

The grant can go towards improvements such as:

  • Wall insulation
  • Loft insulation
  • Double / triple glazing to replace single glazing
  • Energy efficient doors
  • Thermostats and heating controls

To apply, fill out a short survey on the Warmworks website or call 0808 196 8255.

The application deadline is 31 March 2022.

Help with Fuel Poverty

The Energy Saving Trust website can also provide you with information and assistance if you are struggling to pay your fuel bills.

Energy efficiency app

Hertfordshire has become one of the first regions in the UK to partner with Energy Saving Trust to provide an energy efficiency app to residents and help them make energy savings.

Unique and easy-to-use the Hertfordshire Energy Advice Tool (HEAT) app gives a virtual tour around a typical home, asking questions and giving advice along the way. Based on the answers provided, quick, easy, low or no-cost actions are suggested to help householders save money on their energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint too.
