Awaab's Law
Awaab’s Law
This law is named after two-year old Awaab Ishak, who tragically died from prolonged exposure to mould in his Rochdale home.
It sets strict time limits for social housing providers, including us, to deal with dangerous health hazards in their homes.
From 27 October 2025, social landlords must respond to emergency hazards, including dangerous damp and mould, within 24 hours of becoming aware of them.
If you are a council tenant concerned about dangerous health hazards in your home you can report this to us.
