Energy Efficiency Works
We are committed to ensuring that our customers live in homes that are not only warm, of good quality and safe but are also energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
We have been successful in securing grant from the social housing decarbonisation fund wave 2.1 of up to £2.8 million to help deliver a range of energy efficient improvements works to a number of properties. Under our second wave of the decarbonisation programme, we have completed:
- 105 External Wall Insulations
- 106 Flat roof replacements
- 232 doors
- Extractor fans in 210 properties
- 106 call cavity insulations
- 101 loft insulations
Wave 3 of Decarbonisation projects will begin from April 25, with works happening to a number of properties within the borough. We have secured £6.4 million of grant funding over a three year period. Further information will be sent to affected tenants.
Retrofit Works
We’ve been improving the energy efficiency of some of our lowest performing council houses, meaning their residents benefit from smaller energy bills and a healthier, more comfortable home.
Working with our contractor Morgan Sindall, 234 properties in the borough have benefitted from a range of energy-saving measures such as external wall insulation, loft insulation, replacement doors and windows, as well as improved ventilation to prevent damp and mould.
This work was made possible thanks to a government grant of nearly £3m from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund and a £5m investment from Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
