Council housing maintenance

We are committed to ensuring that our customers live in homes that are not only warm, good quality and safe but are also energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

We have been successful in securing a grant from the social housing decarbonisation fund (Wave 3) to help deliver a range of energy efficient improvements to a number of properties. This is likely to include:

• Flat roof replacements
• External wall insulations
• New doors
• Upgraded extractor fans
• Cavity wall insulations
• Enhanced loft insulations
• Window replacements

This work (Wave 3) is underway and all tenants who will benefit have been contacted or will be later this year.  

Retrofit Works

We’ve also been improving the energy efficiency of some of our lowest scoring council houses based on EPC scores. These residents benefit from smaller energy bills and a healthier, more comfortable homes.

Working with our contractor Morgan Sindall, hundreds of properties have benefitted from a range of energy-saving measures such as external wall insulation, loft insulation, replacement doors and windows, as well as improved ventilation to prevent damp and mould.

This work was made possible thanks to government grants from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund and a £5m+ investment from Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
