You may be eligible for other grants as well as the Disabled Facilities Grant. These are listed below.
More funding for disabled facilities
Waiver of Contribution Grant
Disabled Facility Grants (DFG’s) for adults are means tested. This means you may be asked to contribute towards the cost of the works. If you can not afford this you may be eligible for up to £5000 to help.
If the cost of the work to adapt your home is more than the maximum DFG (£30,000) you may be able to get a top up grant to cover the rest.
This can help with large scale works, for example building an extension to a home to provide a wet room.
Moving Home Grant
Sometimes it is not possible to adapt a home and you may have to move.
If this is the case you may be able to apply for up to £10,000 towards moving costs.
Hospital Discharge Grant
If you are in hospital (or have recently been discharged) and urgently need minor adaptations to your home you may be able to get help.
You can apply for a hospital discharge grant of up to £5000.
This can be used to cover adaptations such as adding a:
- stair lift
- or specialised bed
Funding to help keep you safe in your home
If you are an owner occupier or private sector tenant you may be able to get help to keep your home safe.
Safe as Houses Grant
If you have:
- a disability
- or are vulnerable
- and need urgent repairs to make your home safe
you may be able to get up to £5000 to help with this.
The funding can be used for essential repairs including heating, hot water, dangerous electrics, leaking roofs.
If you or someone you know has a problem with hoarding you may be able to get financial help.
Hoarding can present a health and safety risk to you and any other occupiers
The Hoarding Grant can provide financial assistance of up to £10,000 towards the costs of decluttering your home.
The de-cluttering is undertaken by a specialised contractor who will be sensitive and respectful with regard to your possessions.
