CCTV policy

Executive Summary

1.1 The Council operates Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Body Worn Cameras (BWC) for various purposes relating to public safety, and the detection and prevention of crime and disorder. These CCTV cameras require a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) and authorisation from the Executive Director (Resident Services & Climate Change). For CCTV, in order to advise the public of the operation of CCTV there should be signage that informs residents there is CCTV in use and the data controller is Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

1.2 The CCTV Policy (including covering Body Worn Cameras) has been developed by the Corporate Enforcement Group.
