Universal credit is being rolled out to specific customers nationally on a phased basis. The transition to this new benefit for the Welwyn Hatfield Borough will begin on 28 September 2015 when the Job Centre in Hatfield will be participating in the national roll-out. Single people without children who are seeking employment will be guided through the application process for Universal Credit. The Council will be a delivery partner in this change and can assist in the completion of the on-line claim form, and will offer advice if needed on things such as personal budgeting which has more relevance for Universal Credit recipients as the standard cycle of payment for this is monthly.
The online self service portal which allows customers to view Council Tax and Benefits accounts and apply for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction is temporarily unavailable.
