Housing, homelessness and rough sleeping strategy

Introduction

Challenging times continue for the housing sector; there is national recognition that a shortfall exists in the homes being delivered and the homes we need.

Many new households are struggling to find homes to buy or rent that they can afford. Homelessness and rough sleeping is on the rise and the Grenfell Tower tragedy is a constant reminder that standards and safety must remain high on our housing agenda.

This strategy sets out our vision, aims and objectives for providing quality housing and tackling homelessness within the borough.

It contains ambitious plans to address housing need, improve the standards of housing across all tenures and lead the way in providing more homes that local families can afford. It signifies the priority we give to the importance of decent, safe and affordable housing for local people and demonstrates the council's commitment to achieving it.
