Key Principles
3.1 The Council is committed to fulfilling our obligations under FOI 2000, EIR 2004, and DPA 2018, and accordingly the aims of this policy are:
• To raise awareness of the Council’s obligations and the rights of requesters under the referenced legislation above;
• To process all requests promptly and courteously;
• To promote a culture of transparency and accountability;
• To build public trust and confidence;
• To ensure public debate can be better informed, more productive, and residents can better participate in their local democracy and community;
• To provide reasonable assistance and accommodation for those with additional needs and requirements; and
• To ensure full compliance with relevant Codes of Practice referenced on the first page of this policy.
