Resident Involvement

Residents Panel

Welwyn Hatfield Residents Panel logo

Our Residents Panel are a group of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council tenants and leaseholders.

The panel act as a ‘critical friend’ to the council.

It helps us to:

  • find areas for improvement
  • make sure we are transparent
  • make sure we met regulatory standards.

This helps us to builds trust, communicate better and improve the quality of our services.

The main responsibilities of the panel are to:

  • look at our housing services and tell us how we can make them better
  • look at our Resident Involvement Strategy
  • check our draft policies and procedures
  • check our performance data and challenge it if needed

You do not need any previous experience to join.

You just need to be enthusiastic and want to make a difference.

It is a great way to meet new people.

You will also get useful volunteering experience and work skills.

Being a Residents Panel member takes about four to five hours a month.

It includes:

  • a meeting every month (up to two hours long)
  • these meetings are in person at the council offices or online
  • shorter meetings as needed

We can give you support to attend meetings and cover travel expenses.
