Strengthening Relationships With Tenants
2.1 Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is committed not only to fulfilling its legal and regulatory duties as a landlord, but also to building strong, positive, and trusting relationships with tenants. Tenancy audits provide an opportunity for meaningful two way engagement. They are designed to give tenants time and space to raise issues, share concerns, and tell us where services have not met expectations. The insights gathered help us improve our homes, our services, and our communication.
2.2 Through this approach, tenancy audits support:
• Better conversations about what is going well and what needs to improve.
• Greater transparency, so tenants understand how decisions are made and how information is used.
• A stronger partnership, where landlord and tenant work together to maintain safe, secure homes.
• Improved tenant satisfaction, by responding directly to issues raised during visits and feeding this learning into service improvements.
2.3 By focusing on tenant voice and shared responsibility, the Council aims to ensure that tenancy audits strengthen long term relationships and contribute to safer, healthier, and more supportive neighbourhoods.
