Tenancy Audit Policy

Purpose
4.1 The tenancy audit process ensures landlord records are accurate, identifies households that may require rehousing due to overcrowding or under-occupation, and assesses support needs to help tenants sustain their homes. It also detects tenancy fraud or other breaches, signposts tenants to relevant services, and highlights property condition or safety issues. Audits promote resident engagement and provide opportunities to respond to tenant enquiries, improving overall service delivery.
4.2 Tenancy audits also serve as an important feedback mechanism, enabling tenants to tell us where services are working well and where improvements are needed. By capturing tenant concerns, including repairs not completed, communication gaps, or unmet support needs, the Council can make more responsive and informed decisions, ensuring services reflect the real experiences of residents.
