Tenancy Audit Policy

Tenant Responsibility During Audits
7.1 Tenants are required to cooperate with scheduled audit appointments by providing property access, presenting valid identification upon request, reporting any concerns or support needs during the visit, and maintaining the property in a reasonable condition.
7.2 What to expect during an audit
• The housing officer will show their ID.
• Tenants will usually receive advance notice of a tenancy audit visit by letter, phone, or email.
• A housing officer will visit the home to verify occupancy, check property condition, and ask a few questions.
• Tenants must show valid photo identification and confirm household details.
• We will ask personal data including Equality and Diversity data about you and the household.
7.3 If the audit identifies any matters requiring attention—such as property repairs, unmet support needs, or tenancy-related concerns, tenants will be signposted to appropriate services or support agencies.
7.4 All identified issues will be followed up through appropriate channels, which may include making referrals to internal or external services, raising repair orders, or initiating tenancy enforcement action in line with council procedures.
7.5 The Council will treat tenants with respect and keep all personal information secure.
