Keeping Your Home in Good Condition
6.1 During the audit, we check that the property is safe and in good condition. If we notice any issues, we will explain what needs to be done and agree reasonable timescales with you.
6.2 Things we will be looking for:
• That the interior is clean and in good decorative order.
• The garden is maintained i.e. the trees, lawns, and hedges in a neat and tidy condition.
• Outstanding repairs.
• Report promptly any disrepair or defect for which WHBC is responsible.
6.3 As part of your tenancy agreement any damage caused by household members or visitors is your responsibility to repair and make good. Your landlord may help with the repairs, but the costs of these repairs are paid for by the tenant. Please see the Repairs Policy for further information.
6.4 If there are concerns about any structural changes made without permission, we will arrange for a surveyor to visit so we can understand the issue and agree the next steps together.
6.5 Routine repairs remain the tenant’s responsibility to report via the agreed process. Urgent or emergency repairs identified during the audit will be reported immediately by the officer conducting the visit.
